Who will be teaching the Kudhva Surfing Experience?
Our Surf Instructor is half Cuban, half Catalan – David Sandoval. Born in Barcelona, he is a certified surf instructor and fully trained in first aid and aquatic rescue. David is here on-site at Kudhva during the season and brings his passion for surfing and the ocean to all of our guests who would love to learn to surf!
What happens in a Surf lesson?
The lesson will consist of teaching the basic aspects of the sport. This includes learning about the technique, materials used and weather conditions. It will take place both at Kudhva itself and the beach of choice.
The class will be between 1 and 2 hours with a maximum of 4 participants per instructor. This ratio will allow the instructor to give the safest and most elevated experience for each customer. The class will be specifically adapted to the level and needs of each participant.
The surf class will be divided into four basic sections:
This is where everything that the customer needs to know about will be introduced (Technique / Materials / Weather Conditions etc). This includes basic positioning on the board, such as paddling and take off. The last part of this introduction will talk about safety in the water to avoid accidents or injuries and they will have to sign a disclaimer. (?)
Practising on the sand
Once the technique is explained, it will be put into practice with different exercises. It is important that before entering the water they have become familiar with each of the basic techniques. Before entering the water a quick warm-up will be carried out.
Into the water! Depending on the level of the participant the class will take place in the white water or the break. The instructor will be watching, correcting and giving support to everyone.
Feedback and stretching
Once out of the water a stretch will be carried out and feedback shared in order to know what to focus on next time they get in the water.
